Uroflowmetry
Uroflowmetry is a fast and simple medical exam done as part of a urological consultation to determine the flow rate of your urine during voiding.
Uroflowmetry indications are as follows :
- Dysuria (difficult urination)
- Pollakiuria (frequent urination)
- Urinary incontinence
- Prostate enlargement
- Neurological dysfunction
During the exam, you will urinate into a device resembling a toilet, equipped to measure the amount and rate at which urine is released. The test takes about 10 minutes.
Urinary flow varies depending on age and sex of the patient. If your results indicate urinary problems such as obstruction, further tests are needed to clarify the diagnosis.
