LUNG CANCER

Better detect cancer in time

Lung Cancer Screening Program

Physimed’s Lung Cancer Screening Program is a research program consisting of an annual exam of the lungs with a low dose CT scan for targeted patients. If this first examination is normal, you will be invited to repeat it after one year. Upon detection of lung nodules, a follow-up with a chest CT scan is recommended after three months to determine if there is any change in the appearance and the size of the nodules. If there is significant growth of the nodules, other tests such as bronchoscopy, biopsy, etc. may be recommended.

The evaluation and follow-up of lung nodules will require the expertise of radiologists highly specialized in the field of chest imaging. Physimed’s team consists of the group of radiologists from McGill University, highly specialized in imaging of the human body, including the pulmonary area. In addition, each CT scan is reviewed by a radiologist from Physimed and is subsequently sent to the I-ELCAP coordinating center in New York where certain exams are interpreted a second time. Thus, we optimize the diagnostic accuracy and avoid any potentially unnecessary additional procedures (bronchoscopy, biopsy, etc.).

Reminder & Follow-up

Each patient registered in Physimed’s Lung Cancer Screening Program affiliated with I-ELCAP will benefit from a recall system and follow-up to maximize their chances of early detection of lung cancer.
