Services

Physimed’s Travel Health Clinic offers a pre-travel consultation with a health professional specializing in travel health. During this visit, a questionnaire based on your health and immunization status will be completed. You will also receive information on potential health problems associated with your destination, to help you protect your health during your trip.

During the visit, the nurse will recommend certain vaccines and will give you useful information on serious diseases transmitted by food, water and insects (traveller's diarrhea, dengue fever, malaria, etc.) as well as on the sanitary conditions of your destination and the certificates of vaccination required in certain countries of the world. In addition, our travel health physician is qualified for the prescription of drugs to treat malaria, traveler's diarrhea, altitude sickness and other conditions that may occur during your stay outside Canada.

It is sometimes difficult to have access to medical services when abroad. In addition, the sanitary conditions in some countries are often inadequate. For your peace of mind during your trip, we recommend that you put together a travel kit containing the essential medicines that you might need while you travel (personal medication, antidiarrhetics, acetaminophen/ibuprofen, Dulcolax, etc.) as well as specific health products (DEET-based insect repellent, sunscreen, etc.).

Upon your return, a follow-up visit may be necessary to assess any changes in your health status. Depending on the country visited and your symptoms, the doctor may recommend you certain laboratory tests (blood tests, stool culture, etc.).

By giving you access to the most recent information on the necessary precautions during your trip, Physimed helps you reduce your risks for a safe return home in good health.
